Chastre Energy Days as part of the EUSEW.

Between 27th May and 24th June 2017 a number of events are taking place within the Commune of Chastre to raise awareness regarding the need to switch to sustainable energy systems.

The Chastrottes – is an annual event now in its’ tenth year open to all residents of the Commune of Chastre.

This year’s theme is Sustainable Energies but what are the Chastrottes?

The Chastrottes (combination of Chastre and marottes) are friendly puppets (dolls or scarecrows) made with recycled materials.

They are made by locals and arranged so that they are visible to all the different users of the streets.

It is thus an outdoor exhibition by all and for all.

All displayed Chastrottes are photographed. The photos will be published on the blog of 2017 Chastrottes chastrottes-2017.blogspot.com

CHASTRE Energy Day Saturday 24 June.

There are many rumours about wind turbines and so we are offering you the opportunity to find out first hand by visiting the new wind farm of Ernage.

The EU is very supportive of “Peoples Energy” where it is the people and not large energy companies who benefit from locally produced green energies.

There will be opportunities to talk with the Energy Cooperative and find out about investing in locale energy (members from Chastre will be on hand to tell you their own experiences). Depending on the weather conditions there may also be an opportunity to look inside a wind turbine. Don’t listen to rumours find out the facts for yourself!

Reducing energy in mobility is also part of the event and we are offering you the opportunity to experience the benefits of using an Electric Bicycle. If you are interested in taking part in the testing of this innovative mobility option then please fill in a registration form https://kwiksurveys.com/s/YSPMfKyT

If you would like to visit using your own bicycle we would love to see you at the event and just so we can arrange the refreshments on the day could you let us know you are coming. Just send us an email telling us who is attending and how many bicycles – energyday.chastre@yahoo.com

But what if you do not own a bicycle or have reduced mobility? Then again, we ask you to send us an email – energyday.chastre@yahoo.com explain how many people wish to attend and if you have reduced mobility please tell us so we can explain how this may impact your visit. We hope to arrange a limited number of parking spaces for cars.
